~Engagement~
During this stage of the lesson students are being introduce to character traits and settings. Here students will begin with watching a short video explaining both topics of the lesson and then after both videos they will have short little practice activies to start getting their brains thinking about this topic. Students would use these slides as a foundation to the rest of the lesson. These slides help the students begin to start thinking and learning about character traits and setting and the activities will help them start to identify small traits as practice.
~Exploration~
During this stage students will continue to practice and become more familiar with character traits and setting. In the first slide students will read two short stories and explore and become familiar with quizzes. Using quizzes, the students will answer questions about the trait of the characters in each story and even answer some questions about the stories themselves. While in the second slide students will have the freedom to choose their own setting and using google slide and pictures that they use off of google they will create a visual of the setting that they have chosen. These two activities help students become more comfortable with using practice resources (quizzes) and using presentation programs (google slide) that they will be able to use in the future whenever they need to.
~Explanation~
In this section students will get more information and examples of character traits and setting. During this stage the students will only read through these slides and will think about the new information that they are learning. Students will take this time during the explain stage to ask anu questions that they still have about the lesson and try to further understand the topic.
~Application~
During this stage student will be able to show their understanding of character traits and setting by creating projects. In the first project student will bring a setting to life by creating a shoe box project. They will choose whatever setting they want to build and once they build it, they will create a video explaining what they created and all the details that they have added. The second project is where the students will have the chance to create their own stories. They will have their own characters with certain traits and have their own settings using the program Scratch. The students would have the choice of doing the shoe box project or the Scratch story.
~Reflection~
This stage gives the students a chance to collaborate and work with other students to get a chance to see all the different projects that were made. They even get to share what they think about his project and give me back feedback. But when collaborating with other students they will answer questions and look at their peers' projects. This give students a chance to see how other people were thinking and what their peers choose to do and see how their peers did it.
~Sharing~
Finally, student will complete the lesson by filling out the google form to give me even more feedback about the lesson. This gives the students a chance to reflect on what everyone had learned during the time they took to work through this lesson. This gives me a chance to really see how well this lesson helped my students learn about character trait and setting by not having true face to face learning.
